Do you remember the time when Her Majesty had Subjects rather than a lot of uppity Citizens? Oh things are so far gone.
John! Good to see you're still hanging uselessly about here after my disedifying display of ill temper the other night. You're very tolerant.
What is a cork trivet? I have had the honour/pleasure of having proper tea at your house on many occasions but I don't believe I ever saw one of those.
A trivet is the pad you put under the pot to protect the surface of the table you put it on. In the Before Time, when things were done properly, it was a cast iron decorative thing with three little legs, hence the name. Now a "trivet" is any little round thing designed to put a hot thing on.
The cork pad that we always put under the pot is the trivet.
cf: Monty Python sketch "Putting Things On Top of Other Things."
Wait. . . you packed the milk??
Crikey. A more obsessive packer even than I. Who knew such a thing existed?
Cheers,
-John-
